Sogbety Diomande was born in Toufinga, Cote d’Ivoire. He has been drumming and stilt dancing from a very young age, performing with the Ballet National de Cote d’Ivoire. In 1994, he was invited to play at a number of festivals in North America, and in 1997, Diomande moved to North America permanently. He currently resides in New York City, but frequently travels to perform. In 2000, he played jembe during Jimmy Buffett’s No Passports Required tour, and he was a resident artist at Disney World in Orlando, Florida in 2001.
